Rayuela.wav
As in Julio Cortázar’s novel of the same name, Rayuela.wav develops the concept of collage through audiovisual means. The narrative discourse is constructed through granulation as a synthetic tool applied to both sound and image.
The project questions the perception of everyday sonic spaces, which are reinterpreted and transformed into an organic listening experience through an ambisonic setup.
Conceived by Jorge Care and Jose Nisa, a young contemporary music duo dedicated to new artistic creation and mixed music, the project proposes a constantly evolving animated sound installation. Through an artistic and performative approach, the installation is shaped by movement, bodies, and sonic/visual objects.
The sonic spaces will be created from field recordings made during the residency using an Oktava MK-4012 microphone and subsequently decoded through the ambisonic system using Panoramix. These recordings will be performed and processed live with Ableton Live (PanoLive). An R-IoT motion sensor will be attached to the performer, while MIDI pedals placed throughout the space will enable real-time control of both the sonic and visual scenes.
Through the use of different microphones (contact and clip-on microphones) positioned at various points on the saxophone, the performer interacts with visuals generated synthetically in Ableton Live (VideoSync), which form an integral part of the collage-inspired narrative discourse.
Sound and stage experimentation, as well as the exchange of ideas between the artists, will be at the core of the project, fostering a deeply collaborative development process for the performance being created.
